Forum Afrique Expansion: virtual meetings on business in Africa during COVID

Montreal, August 28, 2020 – A series of conferences, revolving around the concerns of Canadian and African businesspeople during these times of global pandemic, will be held online this coming September 23 and 24. This initiative was taken by the organizers of Forum Afrique Expansion to enable as many people as possible to access privileged information on opportunities for business and investment in Africa and Canada and to establish North-South partnerships.

The aim of these virtual meetings is to address the concerns of participants by facilitating their access to up-to-date information and to the analyses of influential political and economic leaders on the economic situation in Africa and in Canada. These experts will thus provide a better appreciation of the vast and expanding opportunities in what will be the world’s largest consumer market for goods and services by 2030, as forecasted by the IFC, a Wold Bank affiliate. The Forum’s founder and president, Amina Gerba, explains: “Several African countries have developed Emergence Plans that require as inputs considerable investments and the know-how of the new economy. Encompassing a wide variety of sectors, such as infrastructure, energy and transportation, these plans offer numerous opportunities for Canadian businesspeople.”

Well-known guest speakers will cover the following themes on a dedicated and personalized virtual platform: COVID-19 in Africa and the economic recovery plans; Canada-Africa business relations: opportunities and challenges; Infrastructure and sustainable development in Africa; and Data mining for development purposes and the related security issues.

It is worth recalling that the 10th edition of Forum Afrique Expansion, which was to be held on the same dates at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal, has been pushed back to Fall 2021. This decision was made to ensure the safety of the participants, speakers and partners in light of the recommendations and guidance of the authorities for avoiding the spread of COVID-19.

Now the premier Canadian platform for Africa-Canada partnerships and the ultimate event for gaining a deeper understanding of the business climate in Africa, Forum Afrique Expansion showcases an economic environment that is immensely attractive for investors and project bearers interested in the African markets.
