Forum Afrique Expansion 2020 postponed due to COVID-19

Montreal, July 20, 2020 – The 10th edition of Forum Afrique Expansion, slated for September 23 and 24, 2020 at Montreal’s Palais des congrès, has been postponed to October 5 and 6, 2021.

This decision was taken in consideration of the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 global pandemic. Strict measures have been taken by the Canadian government, among them the closing of the country’s international borders and airports as well as the suspended issuance of visas for entry to Canada.

The delegations of some 30 countries were expected for this business gathering whose programming includes conference luncheons, panels and numerous workshops featuring well-respected speakers.

Canadian authorities have indicated that physical distancing measures shall remain in effect for as long as public health and safety requires it, which means several months yet, therefore making it impossible to hold large-scale events. Forum Afrique Expansion, which was to welcome 500 participants so they could forge partnerships and discuss opportunities for business between Africa and Canada, thus bears the brunt of these measures.

For the Forum’s management team, it is important to maintain a close relationship with the event’s partners and to keep participants informed. To achieve these aims, we have decided to make this year’s Forum a virtual one on the scheduled dates of September 23 and 24. Programming for this first 4.0 edition of the Forum shall be announced very shortly on the Forum Afrique Expansion website.
