Welcome to the new Forum Afrique Expansion!
October 2 and 3, 2017 at Montreal’s Sheraton Centre

Montreal, December 26, 2016 – So long “Forum Africa,” the precursor of this prestigious business gathering. The new name conveys the event’s new dimension. By becoming Forum Afrique Expansion, the former Forum Africa takes on added sheen and importance. Launched in 2003, this biennial event, organized by Afrique Expansion Magazine with support from the African Development Bank, still has as its core mission to provide a networking platform benefiting North American investors and African entrepreneurs alike. It enables Canadian companies to showcase their know-how and to find potential partners in Africa.

This 8th edition will be held October 2 and 3 at Montreal’s Sheraton Centre, where more than 500 decision-makers are expected, representing national and international financial institutions, private- and public-sector investor groups, and African and Canadian governments (federal and provincial).

“Africa is an attractive destination for investment and is expected to become the second-largest marketplace for European producers of consumer goods by 2017, according to a study by Deloitte. Forum Afrique Expansion enables North American, and particularly Canadian, companies to benefit from this trend, because Africa is the future,” explains Amina Gerba, president of Forum Africa’s organizing committee.

Once again in 2017, there will be a featured African country, a designation that allows the selected country to showcase its chief assets. In 2015, Senegal was the 7th edition’s featured nation. This was an opportunity for the Senegalese delegation, led by the Minister of Economy, Finance and Planning, Mr. Amadou Ba, to introduce participants to the Emerging Senegal Plan, developed to help the country achieve emergent status by 2035.

In addition to the featured country, the organizing committee decided to showcase the province of Québec in 2015. Premier Philippe Couillard spoke before 500 guests and emphasized that Africa will play a determining role within La Francophonie in the 21st century.

Finally, and also of note, well-known speakers will deliver their messages over the two days.
